Awareness approach
A solution from the Anti-Troll Kit that allows you to get assistance from an educator police officer without going to court.
Citizen mediation
A solution from the Anti-Troll Kit that allows you to use mediation services from an organization to resolve your conflict with the cyberbullying perpetrator.
Civil remedies
A solution from the Anti-Troll Kit that can be used when someone behaves problematically towards you, such as spreading lies on social media or destroying your online reputation.
Criminal code
The Criminal Code lists the offenses a person cannot commit in Canada. It applies from the age of 12!
Cyberbullying perpetrator
The person who engages in cyberbullying.
Formal notice
A letter sent to the cyberbullying perpetrator informing them of your intention to pursue a civil remedy if the problematic behavior continues, and to seek reparation if needed.
Police report
A solution from the Anti-Troll Kit that allows you to report a person’s criminal behavior to the police.
Police service
The police force that serves the area where you live.
Resources to help you
Organizations you can talk to for free and easily, such as Kids Help Phone and Tel-Jeunes.
School counselor
A professional working at your school, such as a psychoeducator, specialized education technician, or the person responsible for the anti-bullying and anti-violence plan.
School police officer
The police officer responsible for your school. If you don’t know their identity, just ask a school counselor!
Troll
An individual who uses telecommunications to annoy, harass, or intimidate someone maliciously or to incite fear.
Trusted adult
An adult you can trust, such as a parent, teacher, or friend.
Warning link
A solution from the Anti-Troll Kit that allows you to send a warning to the cyberbullying perpetrator, asking them to stop their behavior.
